The new Chatham Islands Pest Management Plan will commence on 17 May 2021.

The Pest Management Plan is a key component for the Chatham Islands Council's wider biosecurity programme and provides the regulatory requirements for priority pests on the Islands.

Update: 6 April 2021

The Chatham Islands Council adopted the recommendations for its new Pest Management Plan at a Council Meeting on Thursday 1 April. The decision was publicly notified on Tuesday 6 April.

Applications to the Environment Court

Pursuant to s76(3) of the Biosecurity Act 1993, the following persons may make an application to the Environment Court on the matters set out in section s76(2) of the Biosecurity Act 1993:

(a) a person who participated in consultation during the preparation of the Proposal for the Chatham Islands Pest Management Plan, or consultation on the Proposal, and whose views were provided or recorded in writing; or

(b) a person who is likely to be affected by the plan and did not participate in consultation only because the person was not given an opportunity to participate.

The application must be made within 15 working days after the date of this public notice, which was first published on Tuesday 6 April 2021; therefore, any application must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 28 April 2021.

An application is made under section 291 of the Resource Management Act 1991 and regulations made under the Resource Management Act 1991.
