The Chatham Islands Council has a small library situated in the reception area.
Fiction and non-fiction books have been donated and are free to borrow.
Wellington City Library(external link) supports our library, and sends a variety of books and DVDs bi-monthly.
Chatham Islands Council facilitates and manages loans to individual customers from this collection whilst it is on loan to them. Book requests can be made at reception.
- Per book: Free
- Per night: $5 per DVD
Chatham Islands residents can also access the full collection at Wellington City Libraries by joining their library service.
This membership has the same conditions as Wellington residents, except members on the Chathams are required to pay postage for deliveries. Most items are issued for six weeks. This also entitles customers to use Wellington City Libraries’ online services, including:
- PressReader (eNewspapers and Magazines)
- Online tutorials
These online services can be accessed using your Wellington City Libraries library card number.
Chatham Islands Council initiates the membership process to monitor eligibility, then the customer relationship is directly with Wellington City Libraries.
